Top Beach Restaurants, Gilis

These are the Gili restaurants that do not fit a single cuisine, and most of them have their feet in the sand. Mowie's is the one to plan around on Gili Air: beanbags, low tables and fairy lights strung between coconut palms on the west coast, facing Bali and Mount Agung. The menu leans on grilled snapper, prawn skewers and seared tuna, with a long cocktail list, and it fills early, so arrive in good time. On Gili Trawangan, Pearl Beach Lounge sits under a bamboo structure shaped to echo the waves at the Pearl of Trawangan resort, with tables on the sand facing Mount Rinjani. Pasta, seafood and flatbread pizzas fill the menu, and the ice cream and pastries are made in house. Casa Vintage Beach is the smallest and the most personal. It sits beside Gili Teak on the quieter side of the island, cooks Jamaican food with Indonesian touches, changes the menu with the produce, and takes cash only.
