Let me start by saying this was one of the best course menus I’ve experienced. From food to service, everything was on point. For the food, it’s so nice seeing a Filipino tasting menu that feels like a traditional Filipino meal. Each course is substantial, and is presented for sharing instead of single tiny bites that usually come with tasting menus. Everything was really good, but the standouts were : the Siomai with rice, the sisig, and the rice and chicken. For the service, it was impeccable. Charming front of house that were also great storytellers, explaining in detail the unique Filipino cooking techniques and ingredients that go into each dish. I didn’t even notice whenever they refilled my water. Ninjas. For atmosphere, it was surprisingly laid back despite being fine dining. Conducive to good conversations, not too noisy, and lighting really created a nice vibe. If you haven’t eaten at Toyo, pls do so. It’s well worth it.
5.0Nico Gonzales· a month agoOur 38th anniversary celebration at Toyo Eatery was simply amazing, not only for the generous and creative kamayan offerings, but also for the genuine, relaxed, and warm atmosphere we felt from every staff member. Especially our waiter, Lord, was extremely gracious, kind, and informative. I loved how the chef weaves together stories and the best ingredients from around the Philippines throughout the meal, highlighting the unique cultural traditions tied to different regions. We were satisfied with the quantity, quality, inventiveness, and value of the meal, and for the accommodating staff who were considerate and thoughtful about some of our party’s food sensitivities. As a side note for anyone from the U.S. wanting to book a reservation, paying the deposit was quite challenging, as I was unable to get any of their payment options to work. In the end, I had to ask for an optional payment method and a PayPal account was provided, which worked for me finally.
5.0B Manzano· 5 months agoHad a wonderful kamayan experience. A beautiful tribute to Filipino heritage, local farmers, and sustainably sourced ingredients. Eating with our hands made the tasting menu feel even more thoughtful and communal. The take-home bottle of their housemade lambanog, Dalisay, was such a lovely finishing touch.
5.0Jo Mendoza· 4 months agoWe had the kamayan experience which at first I was hesitant about but it ended up being amazing ! It was a great way to learn about the different flavors of the Philippines. Every dish was balanced and very tasty. Our server took the time to explain everything we had and was very patient even though we were 45 minutes late . We will definetely be back in our next manila trip !
