We came in at around 8:30 PM on a holiday, and the place was bustling from private rooms reserved and conjoined long tables for family gatherings filled. It was definitely busy, as the staff was trying hard to get a hold of things with constant moving around, shuffling tasks back and forth. We had to call the attention of someone after waiting around for a minute or two and sat at the cafe side. I do appreciate the interior. It kind of gives rich yet simple comfy person wood-based living room vibes. The menu is straightforward, choose and you’re ready to go. I would say that our food took 20 minutes to come out, and we’d have to wait for a while for our additional rice orders to come by after some probing. The food is fine, like what you would expect for good homemade cooking. XO Gulay (P395) was basically an assortment of steamed vegetables paired with a pretty small Bagoong-like add-on. It’s alright. If you need something healthy with light seasoning, go for it. Crispy Daing na Bangus (P895) was honestly quite overpriced. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a sizeable full fish for 3-4 people. It was indeed slightly crispy, fish threads nice and a little bitter in a good way…? I did enjoy it, but I think it would be better if it was not as expensive. Sinigang Salmon Head (P695) had delicious salmon, veggies were good, and the soup was bitter and miso like… in a good way. I don’t know what it is with bitterness, but that’s what I got. By the time, we were 3/4 done with the bowl, the soup was a little nonexistent. You could get extra soup, but since we asked when they were about to close at 10pm - the kitchen was already wrapping up so we couldn’t get any. Drat. I have a quip though. For every entre you order, you get one cup of plain rice. There’s three of us, and we were thinking “oh yea, these two cups are going to be filled to the brim to accompany this hearty meal”. Well, suffice to say, the rice amount was quaint. So we had no choice but to order three cups of extra rice each (P95 per), and guess what… that’s when that cup of rice was brimming to its fullest capacity. And yeah, now we have a total of P285 just for extra rice. Like… dang. But you know what, the highlight was to come. Halo Halo (P295) had this traditional, classic shine where every single component from the leche flan, ube ice cream, milk and beans were perfect for each other. It was a great amalgamation, and this is the one item that I think you must get at Milky Way. It wasn’t too sweet, or one component too out of place, it was just right. So, I’d say come here for the homey vibe and home cooked food that can accommodate large groups, small groups or just you. Just be aware that the food can be alright and when things get busy, the service is just alright. If you’re good with that, then… good. 👍

5.0Walter Butti· a month agoMilky Way does the classics extremely well. The fresh lumpiang ubod (₽195) has a soft wrapper and a hint of gatrlic in the sweet sauce. The pancit luglug (₽345) was tasty but the serving was small. The halo-halo (₽295) is made with an old-school hand-cranked ice shaver giving the perfect texture.
