The only reason I'm giving this a 5/5 is because the food is just. so. damn. good. I can't believe I didn't try Sarsa sooner! PLEASE listen to me when I say you should get white rice for all your orders. I'm an avid garlic rice lover, but white rice just give the sarsa of the dishes here more space to shine!! You won't regret it, swear! Also, we ordered more than we could eat lol. Bistek was a bit too salty for me, but my boyfriend loved it. Sisig was more my jam, but it was too greasy for him. We both loved the pork barbecue, so please get it!! SUPER AMAZING, swearrr! We also saw other people trying the Crab Tortang Talong so we might get that some other time. There's different things for everyone, so don't be scared to try things out. P.S. I wish the owners consider changing or updating their decor because the overhead lamps just take away from the experience of the food and the service. Speaking of, I found one server quite dismissive. Thankfully, the others were much friendlier.
5.0Dani Mallari· 3 months agoFood is just okay, not amazing, not bad, just decent enough to warrant a return. The sisig is the best out of the bunch with its creamy, balanced savoriness. I also liked the halo-halo, though it certainly isn’t a game changer by any means. The crab torta’s concept is fine but it’s just a bit oddly mediocre. A part of me wished I had ordered the gising-gising instead. The kansi was disappointing though because why are we putting cabbage in it?! I mean it’s my fault for not reading the menu properly and not seeing that that’s their vegetable of choice instead of langka, but STILL. Also, the soup base itself again is just… Okay. You’ll find better kansi in Balay Dako or some random inasal place. At the time dining, it was quite hot. The airconditioner was over 20C+ and no adjustments were made for a full house. What I loved apart from the sisig is the speed of the serving and the overall service. I think I will still return to try their inasal and see if my current review stands.
2.0Ezra B· 4 months agoOne of the OG places I always make sure to visit whenever I’m in Manila. Sarsa has been around for ages, and the recent revamp has really given the space a fresh vibe that feels very true to Chef JP’s brand. The new food menu also shows how they continue to push and evolve their cuisine, and the Bib Gourmand recognition is a well-deserved reflection of that. I’ll always come back for a good isaw and tortang talong. ❤️ Salamat Team for yum food! ✨🫶🏻
5.0Quiel Em· 3 weeks agoI was looking for a good value, authentic Filipino experience for dinner on a Thursday night, and saw this one walking distance from my hotel, on the Micheling recommended list. BEST CHOICE EVER. FYI it tstes 100 times better than it looks ;-) The beef kansi was to die for, so succulent, with soft, juicy brisket, marrow, and Lord knows what other cuts, and nice caramelised bits on the bottom of the cast iron sizzling dish. I don't even know how to describe the taste, but it has all that I love about Filipino food: juicy, tangy, slightly acidic, sweet, and delicious. Service was also surprisingly quick, especially given that the place was packed when I arrived. I also had an iced batirol, which was sweet, rich but still light enough, with small bits for texture. For dessert I had the latik piaya, based on the waitress' recommendation and boy did she know what she's talking about. Fresh, flaky, hot off the griddle, sweet, but not too sweet. I went home and couldn't move. The place is, extremely noisy, so good to bear in mind. I mean, almost comically so. I was on my own so it wasn't an issue. Also, best to book if you're not alone, and they close bang on 10 (at least on the night I was there, so I was strongly encouraged to leave by a few minutes to 10pm. Highly recommend!
