Went here with family a few months back. Tried the Ding Dong Ultimate Weekday Boodle and the serving size was decent and filling, and the tinapa roll was okay, but overall the food didn’t really stand out. The service was also just okay; none of the servers were particularly friendly or welcoming, which took away from the experience. Overall, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return and would probably skip this one
3.0Saidy McNeilage· 3 weeks agoI am a local so I obviously know the cuisine by far. I don't eat at Filipino restaurants that often but a Polish friend came so I searched for a traditional resto. One came to mind but it had so many twists and I felt it did not encapsulate what our cuisine is so I opted for Mesa plus it was near my friend's hotel. Service: Ok it started well when they efficiently managed my reservation. The table was reserved and I am able to order in advance. What irked me is the delay in serving the food plus the intervals were not consistent. Next, we had to keep following up. Not the type of service I prefer esp when I am bringing guests. Ambiance: Place was spacious and also offers Al fresco seating. It can get a tad too noisy though. Food: Drinks: They offer soda and shakes but the Fresh Buko was a nice touch. My friend loved it. Appetizers: Pomelo Salad - I find it lacking in acidity and it was too plain. Not sure if there should be a vinaigrette somewhere but I was underwhelmed. Sisig in a Pouch - This is what I am talking about! What a dish. Love how they somehow make it reminiscent of lumpiyang shanghai. Every bite is so savory that I am salivating as I am writing this review. Entree: I had high hopes but sadly they did not offer any standard soup dishes except for nilagang pork and sinigang na ulo ng salmon. Ordered the latter but it was too simple. Baby Pusit in Olive Oil - I would order this again. Love that is is not too salty and just pleasingly savory. They offer a lot of sampler platters but opted for the Inihaw Platter. Thought it will be plated like on the menu but it came on a white plate. Not a big fan. I loved the grilled scallops, next time I will order this ala carte. The squid skewer and the pork bbq was a bit dry and tough. The grilled chicken and liempo which was too fatty btw was not exceptional and what left a bad taste in my mouth was the grilled bangus and shrimp. It was charred to the point it was bitter. I feel they basted it too much that it got burned because of their marinade that had sugar or molasses in it. Dessert: I was so excited for my friend to taste Halo Halo and Leche Flan but guess what? They are sold out 😵💫 We ended up ordering the Turon with Ice Cream. It wasn't mind blowing and it came late. I sincerely hoped we could end with a good note but sadly we didn't. Price: Eating here would not cost you an arm and a leg. I was really hoping to highlight our cuisine but was kinda disappointed. 😞 I know these guys could do waaaay better. Will try again in the future and update this review but based on the experience and taste, I can't give it a 5. Sorry Mesa 🙏 PS.: Given that some Filipino food are meant to be eaten by hand, a wet or warm towel may be a good addition.
3.0Mini Kit· 7 months agoGood Filipino food. Most of the ala cart dishes can be ordered in three different serving sizes. The crispy beef pares is a must try. Though the waiter forgot the additional condiment and dessert I ordered. Majority of the dessert items were not available during my visit.
4.0Jayme B.· a year agoMESA at Greenbelt 5 is one of my go-to places for modern Filipino food done right. The dishes feel elevated but still comforting, with flavors that stay true to Filipino classics. Everything we ordered was well-seasoned and clearly cooked with care—perfect for sharing family-style. Standouts for me were the crispy, flavorful mains and the rich, savory sauces that paired so well with rice (you’ll definitely want extra). The ambiance is stylish yet relaxed, making it great for both casual meals and special occasions. Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive, which made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking to introduce Filipino cuisine to friends or just want a reliable spot for consistently good food, MESA Greenbelt 5 is a solid choice.
