Top Indonesian in Kuta Lombok
Kuta Lombok's Indonesian food runs from a proper archipelago menu to warungs where dinner and a juice cost next to nothing. Pawon Nusantara is the place to sit down and order widely. The halal kitchen on Jalan Raya Kuta cooks rendang, tongseng, ikan bakar, ayam betutu and nasi bakar, and sends out a spread of sambals so you can choose the heat. It is close to the Mandalika circuit, which makes it a sensible stop on race days too. The three warungs are simpler and cheaper. Warung Flora is friendly and fills up at peak dinner time; the regular order is ikan pepes steamed in banana leaf or ayam bakar taliwang, and service slows when it is full. Warung Lamina, on Jalan Pariwisata, pairs chicken drumsticks with a choice of sauces, from chilli and onion to a dark sweet gravy. Warung Ombak, a young team's small room in Merendeng, keeps to nasi goreng with peanut sauce skewers and a tempeh burger that long stay travellers come back for. This is an early list, opening for diner votes, and positions cannot be bought.
