Best Japanese Restaurants in Aoyama & Shibuya 2026

Early list, not yet ranked by diners · 3 votes so far

Japanese venues of two kinds: tasting menus and cheaper specialists. The tasting menus first: Den and Narisawa hold two Michelin stars each and Sassa holds one, a lot of stars for a short list. Den, in Jingumae, is where Zaiyu Hasegawa's team plays with the format, from a miso and foie gras monaka to a stuffed chicken wing in a box. Narisawa in Minamiaoyama sets lacquerware and washi on the table and cooks the countryside. Sassa in Hiro pairs kaiseki with pu'er tea and serves an abalone risotto.

The specialists cost less and ask for different kinds of commitment. Maisen Aoyama, near Omotesando, sells katsu sando to take away and kurobuta hire inside an old bathhouse. Narukiyo, in a Shibuya basement, needs a booking for the counter and some trust, since the handwritten menu is only in Japanese.

This is an early list, opening for diner votes, and positions cannot be bought.
