  Wonderful Austrian private dining experience in Tokyo. The highlight of the night was the sacher torte with foie gras and the rhubarb cake. Highly recommend for an intimate dining experience right in the heart of Tokyo.

  The only Austrian restaurant to receive a star in the 2026 Michelin Guide Tokyo. The restaurant's name, "EWIG," means "eternity" in German. Chef Sugano trained for six and a half years at a famous Michelin restaurant in Austria before returning to Japan. It's in a somewhat hard-to-find location for first-timers, but a sommelier greeted us. Lunch Course 16,500 yen Three kinds of amuse-bouche Foie gras terrine in the style of Sachertorte Lumpsuckerl / Grilled sweet snapper with scales (menu subject to change) Sautéed golden snapper with white asparagus Roasted fillet steak Dessert Petits fours, coffee or herbal tea The specialty is foie gras terrine in the style of Sachertorte. The terrine, marinated in wine, is coated with truffles resembling chocolate. The base consists of a sponge cake made with cocoa and Austrian apricot jam. The various flavors blend together beautifully, making it a truly fitting specialty dish. The subsequent fish and meat dishes were also excellent. The roasted fillet steak, in particular, was incredibly tender—perhaps the best meat I've had recently. They also have around 50 kinds of Austrian wines, many of which are rarely seen in Japan, making it a fascinating selection. In addition, they have a wide variety of non-alcoholic drinks, making you want to try them all. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy unique Austrian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.
