We visited 唐閣 to celebrate Mother’s Day. As 唐閣 is a three-MICHELIN-star Chinese restaurant, we had very high expectations for this meal. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not quite meet those expectations. When we arrived, there were some children playing and making noise outside the restaurant. We raised this with the restaurant manager, and the issue was handled quite promptly. The service was generally good throughout the meal, including the attitude of the staff and the pace at which dishes were served. However, one thing I found missing was the level of dish presentation and explanation that I would normally expect from a MICHELIN fine dining experience. The staff did not really introduce the ingredients, preparation methods, or cooking techniques of each dish in detail. In terms of food, many of the dishes were served in decent portions, but the ingredients and flavour profiles felt somewhat repetitive. Even though we wanted to try more different dishes, there were not many options that felt truly distinctive. I did not feel that the meal offered ingredients or cooking techniques that could not be found elsewhere. We originally expected a three-star restaurant to feel much more special, but the experience felt closer to a high-end Chinese restaurant without MICHELIN stars — except that the price point was very much at MICHELIN-star level. The standout dish was the 生浸玫瑰豉油鴿, which was genuinely impressive and memorable. The other dishes were generally tasty like 砵酒百花釀焗斑球, but not particularly surprising. Some of the plating also felt rather ordinary and not especially refined, at times giving an impression closer to a traditional Chinese restaurant rather than a three-MICHELIN-star fine dining venue. Overall, the service was good and the food was pleasant, but the experience did not feel like a three-MICHELIN-star fine dining experience to me.
3.0風裡追瘋· 3 months agoHad an amazing dining experience at Tang Court and it absolutely lived up to its three Michelin stars. Every dish was beautifully executed, starting with the fried abalone, which had a perfectly crisp exterior while remaining tender and full of flavour. The baked crab was rich, fresh and incredibly delicious. I also really enjoyed the stir-fried mushrooms with tomato and pumpkin dressing, such a creative combination that was both refreshing and well-balanced. The real star of the meal though, was the stir-fried mushrooms in XO sauce. It was packed with umami and the mushrooms were cooked perfectly. It’s a dish I would happily come back for. Dessert was a lovely way to end the meal, with buttery pineapple tarts and a refreshing goji berry jelly that wasn’t overly sweet. A special mention to Bono, who made the experience even more memorable. He was incredibly attentive, friendly and thoughtful throughout the meal, always checking in at the right moments and making us feel genuinely welcomed. His excellent service really elevated the entire dining experience. From the food to the service, everything was exceptional. Tang Court truly deserves its Michelin reputation, and I’ll definitely be back for another special occasion. Highly recommended!
