  • Food was mediocre. It costs at par with what's around. It's priced well in my opinion. We might have gotten items from the menu that weren't specialties that's why we really did not feel anything special. Our overall rating based on our experience with the food. Other factors are great. We might come back if we have no other choice or we're craving something from their menu.

  • It was our first time eating here with my family. The ambiance is nice, although the space is a bit small. The service is fast and the staff are friendly. The food is good, and the price is just right for the serving size. I ordered the chicken teriyaki & spicy tuna roll—it tasted good. We’ll definitely come back to try their other dishes.

  • My wife and I recently dined at Nikkei, and overall, it continues to be one of the more enjoyable fusion spots around. They start the meal with complimentary chips. A small touch, but a smart one. They’re light, fun, and perfect for nibbling while you wait. They won’t fill you up, and since they’re easy finger food, they don’t interrupt conversation. My wife and I both ordered fish. I had the Nikkei Ceviche: tuna with tamarind leche de tigre, red chili, cilantro, red onion, calamari, and glazed sweet potato. The acidity was bright and clean without being harsh. The tuna was very fresh, and the cilantro and red onion were well balanced so they enhanced rather than overpowered the dish. It came with traditional white corn, which was fine but not particularly special. I’ve had similar dishes where the corn was puffed, and that added more texture and interest. The glazed sweet potato was tasty and playful, though it had softened a bit from soaking up the ceviche juices. The calamari felt like an afterthought.. just three tiny pieces that didn’t add much. Honestly, the dish might have been better without them. That said, I absolutely love ceviche, and this one delivered where it mattered most. My wife is pregnant and had a craving for a phased-out item, the Crispy Fish Bowl. The restaurant scored major service points for accommodating her request. She’s had it before and loved it, and once again it was a home run for her. Personally, I thought it leaned slightly dry, but she rolled her eyes at me.. so clearly that’s just my opinion. The grilled vegetables were excellent, and their drippings over the rice were scrumptious. We also ordered the Yuzu Prawns, and they were excellent. The batter was crisp and well executed. The salmon roe didn’t add much in terms of flavor, but it provided a nice visual pop. I inspected the prawns carefully, and every single one was cleaned properly, which, in my experience in the Philippines, is surprisingly rare. I appreciate that attention to detail. For drinks, we had the Strawberry Basil Lemonade and the Okinawa Lady. Both were good, but if you’re looking for something sweet and refreshing, I’d recommend the Strawberry Basil Lemonade. It’s fresh lemonade with fresh herbs, strawberry sauce for sweetness, and soda for a lively bite. It does have to be mentioned: at one point we spotted a small roach on a chair. That was surprising and disappointing, especially since we’ve been here twice before without issue. Hopefully it was an isolated incident. Ambiance-wise, the space is small, simple, warm, and inviting. It’s a comfortable setting that works well for conversation. Overall, Nikkei remains a great option for a date night, a healthy lunch, or a light dinner. The flavors are thoughtful, the service is accommodating, and despite a small hiccup, it’s a place we’d return to.
