I returned to Bungarampai last night for the first time since the pandemic, and visually, it was just as wonderful as I remembered. The beautiful heritage interior, the great food quality, and the upscale ambiance remain flawless. Unfortunately, the service severely undermined the experience. The staff delivered only the bare minimum—there was no warmth, nor any recommendations offered. At one point, the waitresses were openly chatting right behind our table. When we ordered a starter, a soup, and a main dish to share, we were told it wouldn’t be enough and were pressured to add another main. It turned out to be far too much food, as the portions are actually quite generous. To top it off, we ordered two "herbal cold drinks" which turned out to be heavy, traditional Indonesian iced desserts. The waitress didn't bother to explain this, and they were bizarrely served before any of our hot meals. The floor staff is in desperate need of retraining to match Bungarampai’s premium reputation.
4.0Zoe Chan· 2 months agoWe have been to Bungarampai for several time. The interior is aesthetically pleasing with local decorative elements, infused with modern blended antique furnishings. People are friendly and responsive. Food was delicious and ingredients used were fresh. I must shared that the fried-kue teow was absolutely delicious, love the wok-fried smokey flavor. The satay was good too. Only qualms was that every time we dined here, there was an event being held in which we were seated a table near the side entrance, where it can be disturbingly busy with guests of the event getting into and out of the event. It would be good to call the restaurant in advance to check if there‘s an event that is on on-going. Other than that, i would recommend this restaurant for their local Indonesia food.

5.0Henry Hsu· 8 months agoWent there for lunch on weekday, slow and relax ambience. Friendly staffs, generously story tell about the history of the building and ownership from the very beginning. They made Indonesian traditional snacks, we tried Ongol-ongol and kelepon, surprisingly turn out so goooood. Slightly better that Jajanan Pasar out there. We ordered Nasi Bakar Jamur, Rawon, Soto Betawi and Balado Empal. They said its personal portion, but for me we can share for two. Overall they taste good (chef standard palette), its well balanced for me. But if ur palette used with more thick taste like legendary culinary outhere, maybe its only ‘okay’. Impressed with the decors and personal collection of the owner, antiques and luxurious. We get more than just the food it self. Price?? Yes..its pricey, but worth to try.
