  • A Living Piece of Jakarta’s History Café Batavia is not just a restaurant; it is a piece of Jakarta’s heritage and a living reminder of another era of style, elegance, and taste. I have visited this place a few times over the years, and every visit gives me the same feeling: I should have spent more time here. Located in the heart of Kota Tua, the restaurant has a wonderful old-world charm. The wooden interiors, vintage photographs, classic furniture, high windows and views over the historic square create an atmosphere that is difficult to find elsewhere. Every corner has character—even the famous toilets are almost a work of art, with their walls covered in photographs and memorabilia. It feels less like visiting a restaurant and more like stepping back in time. The food matches the setting. I particularly love the soto and nasi goreng kampung. Both are full of authentic Indonesian flavours, beautifully presented and genuinely delicious. Their drinks selection is also excellent and gives you plenty of reasons to sit back, relax and enjoy the surroundings a little longer. Service has always been excellent—warm, attentive and professional, while still allowing you to enjoy the place at your own pace. What makes Café Batavia special is the complete experience: great food, historic surroundings, timeless ambience and excellent service. There are many places where you go simply to eat; this is a place you go to experience Jakarta. Every time I leave, I somehow feel that I haven’t spent enough time here. A must-visit in Kota Tua, and certainly a place I look forward to returning to on my next visit to Jakarta.

  • full of historical vibe all around the cafe during the Dutch colonial period. Service is very attentive and very helpful staff. Food was great, atmosphere is crowded during peak hour but still easy to talk and speak around. Worth a visit in jakarta old town

  • I was just sightseeing around Kota Tua when I randomly came across Café Batavia. I wasn’t planning to eat, but I’m really glad I stopped because it turned out to be such a great find. The food was excellent, and everything I ordered was really good. The place also has a great ambiance. The old colonial-style interior gives it so much character, and it’s a nice spot to relax after walking around the area. The staff made the experience even better. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Special shoutout to Samuel, Fergi, and Arika for being so kind, helpful, and attentive during my visit. If you’re exploring Kota Tua, I definitely recommend checking out Café Batavia. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, and amazing service. I’d happily come back again.

  • Love the ambiance of the cafe, relaxing and feels home. You can choose where to dine there is smoking area which was located at the ground floor and the non-smoking area which is at the second floor. The coffee and the foods I ordered are all superb. The Service was so good. probably we went on a Monday morning so the cafe is not that busy.
