Overall food wise is pretty standard Michelin restaurants. Personally my favorite was their brioche bread with herb butter. The fish with its fried fish scales was also pretty good and rare. The laksa noodle was not bad. Portion wise is quite tiny so luckily we weren’t that hungry to begin with. Service wise is a bit mix feeling, some staff are friendly than the others, but one obvious mistake they make were they didn’t offer or bother to ask whether we want coffee or tea when the dessert was served. The dishes are well explained, but the staffs lack the attentiveness that a Michelin restaurants should have. Atmosphere wise, the restaurant’s lighting is a bit too dim for our taste, is good for a romantic lunch or dinner, but not so much for business meetings……
4.0Charmander Lee· 2 months agoComfortable private seating and great service. I was Never really a fan of Singaporean cuisine but this really impressed me! Every single course was amazing especially scallop pie tee, the brioche, Iberico pork three ways with reasonable portion.
5.0Jenny Kwong· 2 months agoWhey is a 1-star contemporary restaurant known for its Singaporean influenced cuisine. Online reservation is straightforward. The main dining room is spacious and elegant. Servers might not be rude, but a couple of them are not that friendly. Although there is only one tasting menu (HK$ 1,398/person) for dinner, the details are wrongly printed. Each dish is presented with an introduction which sounds like a recording in the fast-forwarding mode. The fusion-based courses are beautifully presented, with all the sauces being served at the table. While seafood is the main ingredient for most of the dishes, the heavy seasonings are simply too overpowering. Honestly, the freshness is all gone by the time the food enters the mouth. Highlight of the evening is the surprisingly refreshing abalone cold pasta “Asam Laksa Dry Noodles – abalone, lamma hae bee”, which costs HK$288/person additionally. For a dinner that costs HK$2,000/person, there are definitely better options in town.
2.0XO Handsome· 4 months agoWhey offers a pretty innovative and cool Singaporean fusion tasting menu at a reasonable enough price for the high quality food that they churn out. The service is top quality, as is the atmosphere. I have a lot of respect for fine dining restaurants that don’t feel overly pretentious, i felt very welcomed at whey, and the service was very personable while still maintaining a high standard of professionalism. In terms of the food, 75% of the menu was absolutely outstanding. Highlights included the bonus crab curry course, the dry aged pigeon dish, the canadian lobster with pickled jackfruit and pandan sauce, as well as almost all of the canapés and entrees. If the meal had ended after the last savoury course i would have gone home feeling entirely fulfilled and thinking that Whey had deserved their michelin star that they have held for 4 straight years. However, the dessert offering here was something that was found entirely lacking and not, in my opinion, up to the standard of what a 1 star should be serving. The peach sorbet contained an egregious amount of lemon balm that made it taste incredibly medicinal. It was then followed by a mediocre layer cake that seemed incredibly low effort. the petit fours and surprise birthday cake that followed also left a lot to be desired. All in all, Whey was still a positive dining experience with some very very good food, but the poor dessert offering really left a bad taste in my mouth, literally, i found that they lacked attention to detail and real effort, which is sad as i felt the rest of the meal, the service, the atmosphere and the staff in general were oustsnding. Or maybe i just didn’t get it.
