  • Had a fantastic dining experience at Ho Lee Fook. The restaurant offers a fun and modern take on Cantonese cuisine with a lively atmosphere that feels very distinctly Hong Kong. The interiors are bold and energetic, with red lighting, retro influences, and a buzzing dining room that creates a very memorable atmosphere from the moment you enter. Despite the vibrant energy, the service remained warm, attentive, and well organized throughout the evening. The food was excellent, combining comforting Cantonese flavors with more creative and contemporary touches. Standout dishes included the Kurobuta pork char siu, steamed razor clams, mud crab with crab roe and egg custard, and the stir fry king with incredible wok hei flavor. Desserts were also very creative, especially the Yuenyeung inspired dessert. Overall, Ho Lee Fook delivers a dining experience that feels flavorful, playful, and full of personality while still maintaining very strong culinary execution. A great spot for modern Cantonese dining in Hong Kong.

  • We had the opportunity to dine at Ho Lee Fook for a special celebration and date night after hearing about it from friends for a long time. It felt like we stepped into a time capsule as we entered the golden staircase and was greeted by the bold, retro and cozy interior design. For two people, the portions were generous and delicious. Flavours were both familiar and comforting, yet elevated with great texture. We ordered the prawn toast okonomiyaki, charsiu, crispy chicken and seasonal vegetables. The only downside was we did not have enough room to try out as many dishes as we would've liked to! A pleasant surprise was the sparkling tea and desserts as recommended by our server and sommelier for the night, Britta and Asher. Britta was another highlight of our evening. She was highly attentive, warm, and patient from the moment we were assigned our seats. It was a busy night, but she was able to professionally attend to our questions about the menu, and switched languages immediately to the table next to us with a real sense of calm and joy. Would highly recommend for a special night out!

  • My friend and I had a delicious dine in; however, we encountered some issues during the night. We were welcomed with excellent customer service and informed that we only had 90 minutes to dine. We quickly ordered our food within 15 minutes, including S&P tofu, char siu, steamed barramundi, fried rice, and stir-fry king. While waiting for the food, we also ordered drinks - jasmine sparkling tea and hojicha sparkling tea, which were both very tasty. We waited 30 minutes for our food, which still had not arrived. We reminded the waiter that none of our food had come yet. Shortly after, our first dish arrived, after waiting 35 minutes; then everything slowly arrived one by one. By that point, we had less than 30 minutes to eat everything in a rush. There were too many dishes on our small table, and I couldn’t enjoy my meal because I felt I needed to quickly finish one plate to make room for another. The char siu was definitely the highlight of all the dishes we ordered — the meat was very juicy and well cooked. However, regarding the steamed fish, we made a small complaint that it wasn’t warm enough. I would say it was somewhere between cold and warm. I kindly asked the waiter if the kitchen could reheat the fish for us. The waiter was very helpful but also explained the background story of why Cantonese cuisine doesn’t typically serve hot steamed fish, which confused me because I had just told her the fish was not warm enough. In the end, we were told that the steamed fish would be deducted from the bill, and our waitress explained that the amount would automatically be refunded to my bank account. Also, we cancelled the order for sparkling water from the beginning (which our waitress was okay with, as she did not open the bottle), but it still appears on my bill. I tried to explain this to our server but she didn’t seem to register our concern. Overall, the food was delicious but not amazing, and some staff members’ customer service was excellent. However, the timing between courses needs significant improvement. Additionally, providing false information about Cantonese food was not what I was expecting, especially since I also work in the same industry. Perhaps extra staff training will prevent these unnecessary issues in the future.

  • The food was average and the customer service was good, with the staff being friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, our dining experience was greatly affected by the seating arrangement. We were placed in a corner that was extremely hot and felt poorly ventilated, making it very uncomfortable throughout the meal. Because of the heat and lack of airflow, we were eager to finish our food and leave as quickly as possible rather than enjoy the experience. While the service was commendable, the uncomfortable environment overshadowed everything else. Sadly, we would not recommend this restaurant unless improvements are made to the seating and ventilation, as the overall dining experience was quite unpleasant.
