  • What do you really expect from a carinderia? For me, it’s simple—honest, flavorful food that feels like it was cooked at home, ready for you to point at and enjoy. And that’s exactly what you get here. A spread of well-loved dishes laid out in front of you, each one inviting you to take a closer look… and then another… until you realize your plate can only hold so much. There’s a certain joy in that moment—choosing between favorites, discovering something new, and eventually giving in because everything just looks that good. It’s a very Filipino way of eating—straightforward, comforting, and deeply satisfying. No frills, no gimmicks, no unnecessary flair. Just real, home-cooked meals made with care and served the way we’ve always loved: warm, generous, and full of flavor. You come not for the ambiance, but for the experience of good food that hits the spot every single time. And somehow, that simplicity is exactly what makes it special.

  • Morning Sun Eatery is a Filipino style cafeteria commonly called carinderia in the Filipino language. You queue up and point at what you want to eat, you pay for your food, it gets served and you bring it over to your table. The area where the tables are is at a different area where you have you walk about 15 meters. Prices are inexpensive. Expect to pay about $2-$3 for a meal. They have dessert options. The food is prepared fresh everyday. This is a place for locals and not tourists as the area it's located at is primarily a residential area with some commercial establishments. This restaurant was able to receive a Michelin Bib Gourmand in early 2026.

  • We live nearby and have seen this carinderia constantly packed when it received its Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. The hype seems to have died down a bit no more long queues, so we were finally able to try it. We were most excited for the dinakdakan. Flavor was good, but it was served cold. We asked if it could be reheated (even for an extra fee), but it wasn’t possible. Maybe better to order it for takeout next time so we can reheat at home, parang mas masarap ‘to if served on a sizzling plate would really level it up. Kung nasakto siguro kami na bagong luto, it would probably taste even better. What surprised us was the barbecue, well-marinated and tender. The vegetable dishes were solid too: pakbet was flavorful, and the ensalada (tomatoes, onion, eggplant) was fresh, though slightly on the sweeter side. Staff were nice, and everything we ordered only cost ₱310 sulit na for the quality and portions. Since we live nearby, we’ll likely come back. But if you’re traveling from far away, it might depend on your expectations.

  • The staff here are nice, which makes you want to root for the place. However, logistics can be a bit of a headache. If you are bringing a car, be warned: parking is incredibly hard to find. Keep your expectations in check regarding the setup—karinderia ito, not a full-service restaurant with a dedicated parking lot. The Food (The Hits and the Misses): I came here with pretty high expectations, especially for their BBQ and Dinakdakan, but left feeling a bit disappointed. The taste wasn’t inherently bad, pero kulang talaga sa lasa. Regarding the other dishes, the chicken isaw was okay, though the cleaning could have been a bit more thorough. The pork intestine had a noticeable aftertaste, which threw the flavor off, and the bopis had a pretty average taste. Lastly, the ginataang langka was quite watery (matubig), so the rich, creamy coconut flavor didn't really land. If you happen to be in the immediate area and need a quick, budget-friendly meal, it’s a perfectly okay carinderia or try nyo yung katabi carinderia. But if you are planning to drive out or commute from far away just to eat here, it is definitely not worth the travel. PS. Malangaw po.
