  • Heard about MeiMei from several friends, so we decided to give it a try for dinner, and i'm glad we did ✨ There were 5 of us dining together, and since i'm currently pregnant, i had to skip a few dishes with dietary restrictions. Thankfully, there were still plenty of options to enjoy. What stood out from the start was how flavorful everything was. We began with the skewers, and both the squid and pork belly were good 🦑🥓 The textures were tender, and the seasonings felt thoughtful and layered rather than overly simple. We also ordered a few starters, including the scallop and beef pad kra pao. While the portions are relatively small, each dish brought something different to the table. It felt like every plate added another layer to the overall dining experience. For the mains, we shared the dry aged duck and roasted chicken. Both were beautifully cooked, with tender meat and well balanced flavors. These were the kinds of dishes that quietly impress you and keep you reaching for another bite. For dessert, we tried a few options, including the pineapple sorbet, which personally wasn't my favorite. However, the Bali Chocolate Tart with Sesame Miso Praline was absolutely memorable 🍫✨ The service was another highlight 🤍 The staff were attentive, warm, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made the experience feel effortless from start to finish. What i liked most about MeiMei is that the food isn't just technically good, it's genuinely enjoyable. Sometimes you leave a fine dining restaurant appreciating the craftsmanship, but not necessarily wanting to return right away. Here, i left already thinking about what i’d order on my next visit. A place i'd happily come back to for a special occasion or simply when craving really good food.

  • I’ve been to Bali many times, and this was the first time I experienced symptoms that felt like food poisoning after a meal. On our last night, my partner and I chose the chef’s selection menu, which cost around 1.2 million IDR per person. Overall, the food was good, and we especially loved the Wagyu steak. However, later that night, both of us became unwell. We felt extremely weak, looked pale, had ongoing diarrhea, and our condition lasted for the next 3 days. Based on what we ate, we suspect it may have been related to the fresh oyster. That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful, the service was excellent, and the staff were warm, attentive, and professional. They introduced each dish nicely and kept checking on us throughout the meal, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, despite the lovely setting and hospitality, this dining experience ended very badly for us and was a disappointing way to spend our last day in Bali. I would suggest being extra cautious with fresh oysters, or at least checking with guests before serving them, to help avoid similar experiences for others. Update: I further checked and confirmed with doctor that I did get a food position and having high fever, taking antibiotics. This is the most serious food positioning I have got in Bali.

  • What a disappointing evening. We paid around $150 per person expecting an exceptional dining experience, but unfortunately it turned out to be one of the worst fine dining meals we've ever had. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the menu is elegantly designed, but that's where the positives end. Every dish seemed to rely on the exact same sauce, making everything taste almost same. Rather than showcasing of ingredient itself, the kitchen simply covered everything with the same flavor. Even worse, nearly every dish was excessively salty, to the point that many were genuinely difficult to eat. For a restaurant that automatically adds a service charge, the service was surprisingly slow and inattentive. We constantly found ourselves waiting for assistance. The restaurant lady manager appeared to be following a scripted routine rather than genuinely caring about the guests' experience. It all felt polished on the surface but completely lacking in substance. Considering the premium prices they charge, it's astonishing that they serve food of this quality. Over the past several decades, we've dined at well over a thousand fine dining restaurants around the world, and this was honestly among the worst experiences we've ever had. I hope anyone reading this review won't be fooled by the restaurant's beautiful appearance. Behind the stylish presentation is food that is deeply disappointing.

  • A vibrant explosion of color and flavor in the heart of Canggu. meimei is a masterclass in modern Asian "fun-dining," blending a high-energy neon aesthetic with a menu that is as playful as it is delicious. The interior design is incredible—every corner feels curated for a perfect visual experience. The food is designed for sharing, featuring bold small plates that hit all the right salty, spicy, and sweet notes. From the perfectly textured dumplings to the inventive cocktails, the attention to detail in presentation is top-notch. It’s the kind of place that works just as well for an intimate dinner as it does for a lively night out with friends. If you are looking for a spot that matches great food with an unforgettable vibe, this is a must-visit in the Batu Bolong area.
