Before heading to a family wedding reception, we made time to grab breakfast at Expat. It was located right across from our hotel in Seminyak, so we just had to cross the street. We initially planned to sit indoors but ended up moving outside to the front lobby area because the air conditioning was too strong and cold for us. We ordered just three items that morning: ham, cheese, and bacon relish on sourdough; a matcha latte; and a Single Origin Bali Kintamani - Natural. Regarding the sourdough, we felt the saltiness could have been dialed back just a touch, though it was otherwise a perfect breakfast dish. As for the matcha latte, my wife found it just average—nothing particularly special. The real winner for us, however, was the single-origin coffee. It tasted exactly as described on the menu: distinct fruity notes, balanced acidity, and a pleasant hint of sweetness. It was truly a coffee that packed a punch—the perfect way to start the day. Thanks to Expat for the great breakfast experience; your hospitality staff were outstanding, too. Hopefully, we can drop by again to try other items on the menu next time we visit Bali.
4.0Yedija· a month agoOne of the best coffee shops we visited in Seminyak. Their coffee is genuinely good, and the staff really know what they’re doing. We tried a pour-over, and they gave me a great recommendation after I mentioned that I prefer coffee with fruity notes. It was exactly what I was looking for. We also tried the Mont Blanc Original, which was really good and something a little different from a regular coffee order. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Special shoutout to Jay for taking the time to explain how I should brew the coffee beans I bought. Aside from the drinks we had there, I also ended up purchasing coffee beans and Nespresso-compatible pods to bring home. The place has a cool, relaxed atmosphere and is definitely worth visiting for anyone who appreciates good coffee. I’d gladly come back here if I visit Bali again.
5.0jensanchz· 3 months agoI visited Expat Roasters a week ago , and honestly, it’s one of the best cafés in Bali in my opinion. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly welcomed by the whole team, which made a great first impression. They immediately offered me water, which I really appreciated. What stood out the most was how they recommended their beans using a very interesting “beans card,” tailored to the flavor profile I was looking for. It made the whole experience feel personal and thoughtful. Overall, such an amazing experience. Expat Roasters is definitely top-tier!
5.0Joan Paul· 6 months agoI was originally a little hesitant to go to Expat Coffee Roasters, mostly because of the name because I tend to gravitate toward smaller local places, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But once I stopped in, I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The coffee was excellent. I ordered an iced Strawberry Cake Cappuccino (which I believe may be seasonal), and it was a really interesting drink — slightly sweet, a little creamy, and different from the usual café options. When the drink arrived, it also came with a small card describing the drink and its ingredients. The menu already lists the ingredients, but the card is a nice extra touch and makes it easy to remember what you ordered and you can look up more info. I also had the ham, cheese, and bacon jam toastie, which was genuinely good and made for a solid lunch. The café itself has both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area is pleasant but sits directly along a busy road, so it can get quite loud. I ended up moving inside, where the AC is very effective since the space in enclosed and quieter. It’s a comfortable place to sit for a while, and the Wi-Fi worked well. A couple details stood out to me. They immediately hooked me up with ice water. They use metal straws instead of disposable plastic, and even the bathroom has reusable cloth hand towels, which is refreshing to see in a place where single-use plastics are still very common. Overall it’s a thoughtfully run café with great coffee and a lot of small details done well, and I can see why it has such a strong reputation in the Bali coffee scene.
