Where to Take Visitors in Bali: Seven Places Worth the Trip

Every visitor lands with a list, and these days it usually starts with Canggu. These are seven places to take friends or family who are here for a week and want to see how Bali actually eats: a beach terrace in Seminyak, Indonesian cooking done properly, two very different evenings in Ubud and a long day on the cliffs at Uluwatu. Every one of them has been voted on by Supper Social diners, and each name links to its venue page so you can see where it sits right now.
Checked on 22 October 2026 against each restaurant's own website and menus. Prices are in Indonesian rupiah, and ++ means tax and service are added on top. Hours and menus change, so check before you go.
Seminyak
La Lucciola
La Lucciola sits on the beach next to the 15th-century Petitenget Temple, and it is the easiest first night out you can give a visitor. It is mostly walk-in. When no table is free the average wait is about 30 minutes, and the restaurant's advice is to arrive at 5pm for the sunset seating or come after 8pm. Seatings last two hours and a table takes up to eight, so a bigger group may be split across the room. It opens daily for breakfast from 9am, lunch from 12pm and dinner from 5pm, and the dinner dress code is relaxed smart casual.
Merah Putih

For visitors who want Indonesian food beyond nasi goreng, book Merah Putih on Jalan Petitenget. Executive chef Wiwik's menu works through recipes and spices from across the archipelago, and the plates go in the middle of the table, family style. On the current dinner menu, look for bakpao nangka, steamed buns filled with young jackfruit rendang, and ikan bakar rica, a whole fish chargrilled the Sulawesi way. There is a nine-dish tasting menu at dinner, meat-free dishes on every menu with vegan choices at dinner, and more than 200 international wines at the bar. Lunch runs from 12pm to 3pm and dinner from 5.30pm, every day.
Mama San

Mama San on Jalan Raya Kerobokan is the one for a group. The room draws on 1920s Shanghai, with dark timber panelling, green silk banquettes and low-hung chandeliers, and it seats up to 130 across two floors. The food is shared plates from across Southeast Asia: dim sum such as har gow and siew mai, salads, curries and dishes from the grill. If nobody can agree, order the Feed Me menu at IDR 550,000++ a head, for two or more, and let the kitchen decide. Gluten-free, dairy-free, shellfish-free and vegetarian needs are handled if you say so when you book. It serves all day from 12pm to 10.30pm, and upstairs the Lounge has DJs into the evening.
MAURI

For the visitor who reads the wine list before the menu, go to MAURI, also on Jalan Petitenget. Chef Maurizio Bombini learned to cook in his parents' restaurant on the Adriatic coast of Puglia, and that is the cooking he brings here, from a room designed around an open kitchen. There are two five-course tasting menus: the Signature at IDR 980K, which ends with tiramisu, and the Discovery at IDR 1,380K, which opens with a crudo of aged red mullet. There is an à la carte menu as well, and the full wine list is published with the menus. Dinner is nightly from 6.30pm, with lunch on Fridays and Saturdays and brunch on Sundays from 11.30am.
Ubud
Locavore NXT

If your visitors give Ubud one evening, make it count. Locavore NXT is out in Lodtunduh and serves one set tasting menu, The Source 2.0: 14 courses at IDR 2,250,000++ per person, with no à la carte. The kitchen's rules are no imports, no dairy and no wheat, and the ingredients come from its own gardens and Rooftop Food Forest, its foragers and farmers across Indonesia. The optional drinks pairing is IDR 950,000++, or IDR 750,000++ without alcohol. The restaurant says to plan for three to three and a half hours and keep the rest of the night clear, so don't book anything after. Dinner seatings start between 5.30pm and 8.30pm, and there is lunch from Thursday to Saturday.
Mozaic

Mozaic turns dinner into three rooms. You start in the Tipple Room with canapés and drinks, move to the air-conditioned Dining Room for a multi-course tasting menu that changes with the seasons, and finish in the garden. There is a Botanical menu alongside the seasonal one, and wine pairings are optional. Chris Salans founded it, and Blake Thornley is executive chef and co-owner. The Dining Room is open daily from 6pm to 10pm. If your visitors are around from 29 October, there is also a new six-course lunch at the Tipple Room kitchen, Thursday to Saturday at 1pm, with eight seats a day and menus from IDR 1,250,000++.
Uluwatu
Ulu Cliffhouse

Finish with a full day out. Ulu Cliffhouse is a clifftop pool club in Uluwatu, looking out over the Indian Ocean, with poolside dining and cocktails from 8am to 10pm every day. It is adults-only, so leave the children with someone else. Stay on for dinner at burnt, its restaurant, bar and sunset terrace, open daily from 4pm to 11pm. The seafood is cooked over open flame in a fire kitchen at the centre of the dining room, and the menu is made for sharing. Reserve the terrace if you want to watch the sun go down.
